Natalie University of Rochester
Are you currently attending school? If so, where and what are you studying?
I am currently studying at the University of Rochester, majoring in Environmental Health and minoring in Spanish and Psychology.
What is one of your favorite parts about your post-high school experience?
My favorite part of my post-high school experience is having the freedom of choosing classes and activities based off what I am interested in. The U of R allows me to pursue the subjects I am passionate about. I also have the opportunity to participate in a multitude of clubs that help serve the Rochester community.
How did you use your scholarship funds?
I used my scholarship to buy textbooks for several semesters. The textbooks I needed were often pretty expensive, and I am so thankful to ESL for supporting my education.
What advice would you give to your high-school self or those looking to apply for a scholarship?
I would tell my future self to keep my options open and explore the possibilities I have on campus. I changed my major a few times throughout my time at the U of R and most of my friends did as well.
I would tell those looking to apply for a scholarship to appreciate the opportunity for self-reflection; this is a skill I have often had to use during college, whether it be for job applications or graduate school applications.
What’s next for Natalie?
I am planning on going to medical school next year! Currently I am finishing my last semester at the University of Rochester and working at the Preventative Care Program for Urban Children with Asthma.
