Luke SUNY Geneseo
I'm currently a Senior at SUNY Geneseo where I am a Neuroscience major with a Minor in College Honors Studies.
What is one of your favorite parts about your post-high school experience?
I enjoy the freedom that comes with being at college and the considerable bandwidth that I have to shape my education.
How did you use your scholarship funds?
I was able to use the scholarship funds to pay toward the cost of my room and board Freshman year.
What advice would you give to your high school self or those looking to apply for a scholarship?
I would tell high school students that the process of applying for scholarships is very worthwhile. The process of self-reflection and articulating your experiences is a valuable skill that will serve you well throughout college and your career.
Additional Accomplishments:
Luke and his research partners were recently awarded a $370,000 NIH AREA grant to support their research project examining spatial memory and learning in novel, real-world environments using Google Street View. This grant will provide three years of support to the project, as well as support students in the lab with paid positions and conference opportunities.
Career Aspirations:
I am applying to medical school at the end of the year! I've been fortunate enough to work on a National Institute of Health funded project examining spatial memory using virtual reality.
