Brand Stories: Dolores, Creating Legacy Through Homeownership

At 78-years old, Dolores was able to purchase a home with the help of the ESL mortgage team and the ESL First-Time Homebuyer Grant.

When Dolores set her sights on buying a house, she sought the help of ESL to guide her through the process. Hear more about how her mortgage through ESL helped her achieve more than homeownership.

With family in mind, Dolores began the quest of homeownership to help create a legacy for her daughter and grandchildren. In the current real estate market, she soon realized she needed additional support to realize her dream of homeownership. That’s where ESL stepped in to help provide knowledge and resources to help her work towards her dream.

With the help of Raul, Community Lending Administrator at ESL, Dolores applied for the ESL First-Time Homebuyer Grant program to assist with down-payment and closing costs. Not only was Raul able to process her enrollment in the program, but he also spent time to understand her concerns and inspire confidence in her to work through the buying process.

In addition to grant monies, Dolores received guidance and education about the entire homebuying process from searching for a home, placing an offer, closing, as well as ongoing costs of homeownership.

This was more than a house for Dolores, it represented stability and freedom. Buying a home allowed her the chance to renovate, update, and make this a place she’s proud to call home — and a place she can welcome her daughter and grandchildren to visit for many years. When working with ESL, it’s more than helping to finance a new home, it’s about opening doors to future opportunities for you, your family, and our community.

In speaking to Dolores, she excitedly shares “I am blessed to be in this house.”
