ESL Federal Credit Union Earns Top Spot and National Recognition with Prestigious Training APEX Award
Locally Based Credit Union Recognized for Outstanding Employee Training and Development Programs
Rochester, NY — For the 19th consecutive year, ESL Federal Credit Union has been recognized by Training Magazine as a Training APEX award winner. This year, ESL was named #1 on the 2025 list of organizations. After earning a top 10 ranking for four consecutive years, ESL also qualifies for a spot in the Training Magazine’s Hall of Fame.
The national awards program selects organizations with the most successful and effective learning and development programs in the world. APEX award recipients undergo a rigorous and extensive application process that includes detailing the measurable impact of internal training programs within all areas of an organization and how they affected departmental and overall company objectives.

The APEX Awards ranking is based on numerous benchmarking statistics and a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including:
- Total training budget
- Percentage of payroll
- Scope of training programs provided
- Detailed formal and informal training programs
- Training linked to business/business unit goals
- Business outcomes resulting from training
ESL invests significant resources to provide employees with support in their current roles and to help them advance their careers within the organization. ESL employees are able to take courses on topics such as leadership development, time management, career building, work/life balance, and other areas. Employees are also eligible to receive up to $7,000 in tuition reimbursement per calendar year.
The company touts historically low turnover, in part because of its continued growth and ongoing development opportunities available to employees. In 2023, 76% of all jobs were filled from within and 89% of leadership positions were filled internally.
