The Monroe Community College (MCC) Workforce Development Program is providing measurable results and hope to people and local companies in the Greater Rochester region. The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry in particular is in desperate need of workers with 1,260 jobs available every year, but more than 90 percent going unfilled because of a continuing labor shortage.
Established in 2015 to support the community’s workforce, employers’ needs and our regional economy, MCC’s HVAC Jumpstart Program (one of several programs) provides job seekers with training that prepares them for a career in high demand, vacant jobs and helps establish a foundation for stability and personal growth.
Upon graduation, each student in this program is receiving five to six job offers.
