ESL Federal Credit Union
For Immediate Release: ESL Recognized at Ribbon Cutting at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong Rochester, N.Y. - On Wednesday, August 13th, the official ribbon cutting of the newly renovated B&L Wholesale Supply Pediatric Treatment Center took place at the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong. The improvements were made to provide additional comfort and privacy for patients visiting the center and included thirteen private treatment rooms and a kitchen area. As part of the ceremonies, ESL Federal Credit Union received recognition as the corporate sponsor for the new kitchen area. A plaque on the wall states, "The Kitchen Area is dedicated to ESL Federal Credit Union in recognition of their outstanding commitment and continued support." The thirteen private treatment rooms have their own unique theme, carried out in the floor tiles, ceiling designs and coordinating artwork on the walls. Each room has a comfortable treatment chair that allows patients to recline if they need to and ample seating for friends and family. The rooms are also equipped with a flat screen TV and Wi-Fi access to keep everyone entertained (and distracted from the treatment process). In the past, treatment areas for children with chronic diseases were little more than curtained off areas with no room to accommodate family members or friends who accompanied the patient. Children often spent hours in uncomfortable chairs receiving treatment. Ten years ago, children undergoing cancer treatments such as chemotherapy had a 10% survival rate. With the advances in medicine, treatment and facilities such as this, the survival rate has improved to 70%. Founded by George Eastman in 1920, ESL Federal Credit Union (esl.org) is one of the nation's largest and most successful credit unions. A full-service institution with $3.4 billion in assets, ESL serves 290,000 members worldwide through 19 local branches in Monroe and Ontario Counties, a Tele-banking Center, an extensive ATM network, and the Internet.
